| The Monthly Recap Happy August! As the summer winds down, we continue advocating to expand, enhance, and protect sexual and reproductive healthcare in Pennsylvania. |
| | | | | | Title X Family Planning Funding Restored Great news! You may have heard from our email in early August - AccessMatters’ federal Title X Family Planning funding has been restored after being withheld for four months. With this funding, our network of over 20 healthcare providers serves close to 62,000 people annually at over 70 locations in Southeastern Pennsylvania with family planning services including birth control, STI testing and treatment, cancer screenings, and more. We are grateful to our staff, providers, patients, and supporters for their continued commitment to access, particularly in the face of adversity. While funding has been restored, the fight is far from over with cuts to funding and looming federal appropriations negotiations. Protecting the Title X Family Planning funding is critically important since it allows for vital sexual and reproductive health care to be delivered nationwide, ensuring that all people have access to low or no-cost, high-quality care. Our team at AccessMatters and staff at our network of healthcare providers remain committed to ensuring continuity of care for our patients as we work collaboratively to restore the full complement of essential family planning services throughout our network and advocate for full funding. | | August is Civic Health Month Did you know 80% of health outcomes can be attributed to non-clinical factors, like access to food and affordable housing? These factors are often called social determinants of health. This month is Civic Health Month, which highlights the connections between healthy communities and voter engagement. In August, healthcare organizations across the country are encouraged to participate in voter registration drives and education campaigns. Visit Vot-ER's Civic Heath Month page for more information on the connections between voting and public health. |
